LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock Fire Rescue announced that one of its Lieutenants received a life-saving early cancer diagnosis following his annual physical.

LFR Lieutenant Brett Assiter is a 30-year veteran of the department and he was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma after his annual Life Scan, which is an in-depth physical assessment designed specifically for first responders.
