Lubbock sets new daily record high of 96 degrees

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Another day of record heat for some communities on the South Plains including Lubbock.

Lubbock recorded a new record high of 96 degrees. The previous record for March 22 was 90 degrees; that occurred in 2018.

However, there is relief on the way as a cold front continues to push cooler, then colder air across the area overnight.

The latest cold front will start our week off afternoon temperatures in the 60s to low 70s. It may feel cool enough for a light jacket in the northern communities on Monday morning. Cooler temperatures will cover all of the region on Monday.
