Lubbock Animal Services receives $150,000 state grant for spay, neuter program

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock Animal Services is one of 38 organizations selected to receive grant funds aimed at tackling pet overpopulation across the state.

The initiative is backed by $13 million from the Texas Department of State Health Services. Lubbock Animal Services was chosen from more than 100 applicants across Texas.

How the funds will be used

Taylor Ruggles with Lubbock Animal Services said the funds will be put to good use.

“Through partnerships with veterinary clinics, we have been able to get a good deal on the spay and neuter surgeries these vouchers will be covering, so with that $150,000 we are anticipating doing about 1,500 vouchers,” Ruggles said…
