LUBBOCK, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) advised that one of its troopers was involved in a crash Friday at the intersection of 19th Street and University Avenue.
According to DPS, the trooper was heading southbound on University Avenue in pursuit of a speeding vehicle. When the trooper crossed into the intersection at 19th Street, an SUV also entered from the east and hit the passenger side of the DPS vehicle.

The trooper and the driver of the SUV were both transported to UMC with minor injuries. A 2-year-old child was present in the SUV but was thankfully uninjured. Both people have since been released from the hospital.
