LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock Police Department on Monday morning said Lundun Mata, 23, was arrested after a weekend pursuit ended with a crash.

LPD said on March 29 at 12:38 a.m., an officer saw a pickup truck driving recklessly in the 2700 block of 56th Street. Police said the officer tried to pull the vehicle over and the driver refused to stop. The officer chased the pickup, which went south on Gary Avenue and then crashed into an empty vehicle and home in the 3100 block of 58th Street.

Mata, the driver and only occupant in the pickup, was not injured and was taken into custody. Police said no one inside the home was injured.

A Major Crash Investigation Unit callout was initiated. Mata was taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center and charged with Evading Arrest Detention with a Vehicle, Reckless Driving, Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and two unrelated warrants. As of Monday, jail records showed he posted bond…
