LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The City’s Spring and Summer irrigation restrictions are effective Wednesday, April 1, and continue through Wednesday, September 30.
Spring & Summer Irrigation Recommendations
- For proper hydration, lawns only need 1.5 inches of water per zone, per week. This can be achieved with a watering cycle of 12 to 15 minutes.
- To prevent evaporation, it is recommended to irrigate between the hours of 12:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.; or 6:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. on assigned watering days.
- To prevent runoff, use the cycle & soak method. Watering for 3-4 minutes, 4-5 times, allows the water to soak in the soil. This prevents water from running off, encourages roots to grow deeper, and conserves water.
- If you have a professional landscaper, verify the irrigation system is not overwatering and review the scheduled watering times.
Year-Round Restrictions
- Irrigate landscape only during your two assigned days per week.
- Irrigation schedules are based on the last digit of the house address:
Addresses ending in 0, 3, 4, or 9 – Monday and Thursday
Addresses ending in 1, 5, or 6 – Tuesday and Friday…
