Showers and Storms Through Saturday Morning

LUBBOCK, TX (KLBK) – KLBK Chief Meteorologist Jacob Riley has your Tuesday night weather update for March 31, 2026.

Tonight: Partly cloudy. Low of 55°. Winds SW→SE 10-15 MPH.Tomorrow: Mostly cloudy with scattered P.M. storms. High of 85°. Winds WSW 20-25 MPH.

TONIGHT:

Showers and storms come to an end Tuesday night. We will keep a partly to mostly cloudy sky around the region, with winds shifting back to the southeast by sunrise on Wednesday. Low temperatures will drop into the low 40s to low 60s, with the warmest temperatures remaining over the lower elevations of the Rolling Plains. Areas that saw some rainfall could see some patchy fog.

WEDNESDAY:

Temperatures will be slightly cooler across the region on Wednesday, although our above average trend will remain. High temperatures will peak in the upper 70s over northwestern locations, with southeastern areas peaking in the upper 80s to low 90s! Winds will be out of the west-southwest sustained at 20-25 MPH. Gusts will peak around the 30-35 MPH range. Additionally, scattered showers and storms are expected to return to the region later in the day. A few storms could be on the strong to severe side. The most intense storms will be capable of producing 70 MPH wind gusts, golf ball sized hail stones (1.75″ in diameter), and even isolated tornadoes. Showers and storms will be possible from Noon through 1 AM CDT, with severe storms most likely from 4-8 PM over eastern areas. Locally heavy rainfall totals are possible, with some totals as high as 0.75″-1.00″ possible. Wednesday night into Thursday morning will remain muggy and mild, as lows only settle into the 40s and 50s under a clearing sky.

SHORT-TERM FORECAST:

A drier day is expected on Thursday with high temperatures holding steady in the upper 70s to low 90s. Temperatures will continue on this trend for Friday. Showers and storms will return on Friday, especially over eastern areas. Once again, a few storms could be on the strong to severe side. Make sure to remain Weather Aware! Morning lows will hold in the upper 40s to low 60s. Winds will shift from the southwest to the north Friday night into Saturday morning as our cold front moves in. Additional rainfall totals as high as 0.50″-1.00″ will be possible over the eastern most fringes of the KLBK forecast area.

EXTENDED FORECAST:

Aside from some early morning showers on Saturday, we will remain dry through the remainder of our extended forecast period! Easter Sunday looks absolutely amazing around the region! Cooler temperatures will return next week. Highs will only reach the 60s and 70s, with morning lows falling into the 30s and 40s. Winds will be much calmer, too, making for an absolutely beautiful first half of the week!
