As the deadline passes for the contract standoff between Texas Tech Physicians, Texas Tech Health Sciences Center and UnitedHealthcare insurance, Covenant Health and University Medical Center promoted they will continue working with the insurance company.
Last week, TTUHSC and TTP warned that the organizations would terminate their Commercial and Medicare Advantage participation agreement with UnitedHealthcare. An agreement needed to be reached by March 31. That deadline passed, leaving thousands scrambling to find care that would be covered.
“Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Texas Tech Physicians have not yet reached an agreement with UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company,” TTUHSC said in an emailed statement on April 2. “We remain engaged in good-faith negotiations. Patients with UnitedHealthcare are now out of network at TTUHSC/TTP while negotiations continue.”
