UMC continues to offer care to UnitedHealthcare patients

LUBBOCK, Texas — Amidst the ongoing negotiations between Texas Tech Physicians and UnitedHealthcare, UMC Health System announced that patients will still be able to use their UHC plans at its locations.

Starting on April 1, 2026, TTP and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) will no longer accept UHC plans and are considered out-of-network. TTUHSC providers are still able to treat patients at UMC locations, but their services will be billed separately and won’t be covered by UHC.

In order to ensure what services are covered and which are not, UMC encouraged UnitedHealthcare users to talk with their physicians to determine if they are affiliated with UMC or TTUHSC. In addition, they were asked to contact UHC to determine exact coverage and out-of-pocket costs for those outside of its network…
