Lubbock homeowners see property appraisals increase as the city continues to grow

LUBBOCK, Texas — More than 180,000 Lubbock County homeowners received property appraisals starting March 31, and some viewers are reporting increases well over $40,000.

The Lubbock County Appraisal District says it looks at market values of January 1. According to Chief Appraiser Tim Radloff, the district looked at about 600 neighborhoods in Lubbock.

“Approximately 170 neighborhoods had an increase, and that increase within those 170 neighborhoods was about 7%,” Radloff says. “We have to apply that neighborhood adjustment to every property within that neighborhood.”

Radloff said the county saw a 3% increase in residential property values overall. Higher increases could be based on a variety of factors, including location and the county’s continued growth…
