Driver who killed young couple in West Lubbock gets prison

LUBBOCK, Texas — Anthony Washington, 32, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to two counts of Manslaughter in connection with the 2024 crash that took the lives of Blake Garza, 20, and Naomi Harry, 18.

Washington was sentenced to 40 years in prison for each count, set to run concurrently or at the same time.

On March 27, 2024, at 9:52 p.m., the Lubbock Police Department responded to a crash at Spur 327 and Milwaukee Avenue. LPD said Garza was driving east in the 6500 block of Spur 327 with Harry, while Washington was traveling south on Milwaukee Avenue when the two vehicles collided.
