LUBBOCK, Texas — Court documents have revealed additional information in an early Saturday morning pursuit turned crash that led to the arrest of 17-year-old Xavier Alaniz.
EverythingLubbock.com previously reported that Lubbock Police Department officers attempted to stop Alaniz at around 12:18 a.m. on Saturday, May 2. After he did not stop, officers pursued Alaniz throughout South Lubbock before it eventually ended with Alaniz crashing into a light pole at 114th Street and Frankford Avenue. Three other passengers were in the vehicle and all suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

These latest court documents provide further insights into the events leading up to Alaniz’s arrest. According to these documents, Alaniz reportedly told other occupants in the vehicle to “shut up” when they asked him to stop and said that he “could not go back to jail.”
The documents also stated that Alaniz was traveling at upwards of 120 miles per hour before he crashed into the light pole. Officers reported that one of the passengers was bleeding from his nose and face following the accident while another had a possible broken arm.
