Jerry Kelly helps local teenager fighting bone cancer find joy through golf at AmFam Championship pro-am

For 18-year-old Matthew Odefey, a day on the golf course means more than a scorecard.

As he navigates treatment for osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer that began in his femur and later spread to his lungs, golf has remained one of the constants in his life. In early June, he walked across the stage at Hamilton High School in Menomonee Falls to graduate with his class.

Around the same time, through Make-A-Wish Wisconsin and Abbott, Matthew and his family took part in the pro-am at the American Family Insurance Championship, the PGA Tour Champions event held annually in Madison, spending the day alongside Jerry Kelly at TPC Wisconsin.
