Built From The Block event connects kids at Harmony Apartments with local entrepreneurs and mentors

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Kids at Harmony Apartments spent Saturday learning from local entrepreneurs, business owners and community leaders during an event designed to connect young people with new opportunities and mentors.

The event, called “Built From The Block,” was organized by Jenaisha Mick, who says she wanted to bring resources and positive influences directly into the neighborhood.

Harmony Apartments has made headlines in recent years following several violent incidents. Mick said that’s one reason she believes it’s important to invest in the young people who live there.

“These kids, they’re willing, they’re ready, they’re ready for more,” Mick said. “They’re always looking, they’re always hungry for something.”…
