Madison man accused of stabbing wife to death, fleeing country in 2023 heading to trial

MADISON, Wis. — A 40-year-old man accused of killing his wife on Madison’s southwest side in April 2023 and leaving the country for Mexico with his daughter is headed to trial, online court records show.

Jose De Jesus Duenas-Quinonez is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in connection with the death of his wife, Micaela Juarez Ocolt. She was found dead April 24, 2023, at a strip mall in the 1300 block of Midvale Boulevard.

A criminal complaint alleged Duenas-Quinonez left the country the day before his wife’s body was found. Madison police investigators determined Duenas-Quinonez and his 6-year-old daughter, who is also Ocolt’s daughter, were no longer in the country…
