UW regent resigns amid family medical challenges

MADISON, Wis. – Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents member Jack Salzwedel resigned Monday, citing medical challenges in his family.

Salzwedel, who was previously CEO of American Family Insurance, was appointed to the Board in 2024 and still had five years left in his term. He also previously served on the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors.

“I have a great deal of respect for the people I have had the privilege of working alongside – fellow regents, university presidents, faculty, staff, and administrators across the system,” Salzwedel said in a resignation letter sent to Gov. Tony Evers obtained by Channel3000.com. “Our system of higher education matters enormously to the state of Wisconsin, and I have nothing but good wishes for everyone involved in its future.”…
