Cottage Grove passes unanimous moratorium on large data center development

COTTAGE GROVE, Wis. — The Cottage Grove Village Board unanimously passing a temporary moratorium on data center developments during a meeting Monday night.

The moratorium applies to data centers larger than 10,000 square feet and will remain in effect for 12 months, or until the village adopts new regulations — whichever comes first. The decision gives village officials time to understand and address the potential consequences of large-scale data center operations before allowing new projects to move forward.
