Identifying the best e-device for transportation

MADISON, Wis. — E-bikes, e-scooters, and other electric devices are becoming more common across the greater Madison area. Howeve r, not all e-devices are appropriate for riders, according to the Greater Madison Metropolitan Planning Organization.

Wisconsin law defines several types of e-devices, including e-bikes — which have three classes, e-scooters, and electric personal assistive mobility devices.

All these devices look similar , but they are not all classified the same way . In fact, some devices marketed or labeled as e-devices or e-scooters do not meet Wisconsin’s legal definition…
