Frozen Assets 5K canceled due to ice concerns, replaced with ‘Largest Winter Workout’

MADISON, Wis. — Concerns about the ice thickness on Lake Mendota are forcing the Clean Lakes Alliance to cancel this year’s Frozen Assets 5K.

The annual event, which doubles as a fundraiser for the Clean Lakes Alliance, will not happen as planned on Saturday, Feb. 3, and is instead being pivoted to “Madison’s largest winter workout” at the Edgewater.

People who were planning on participating in the Frozen Assets 5K can still pick up their event shirt at the Edgewater, receive their free beer or seltzer, and participate in a Barre3 workout instead of walking or running on the lake.
