OnStar tracking helps Madison police arrest two in vehicle theft

MADISON, Wis. — Madison police said tracking services from OnStar helped lead to the arrest of two men in connection with a vehicle theft Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to a building on Whitcomb Circle at around 10 a.m. after a man reported his vehicle was stolen from an underground parking garage. Police said OnStar was able to locate the vehicle at a store on Eagan Road a few hours after the theft was reported.

A 35-year-old man and a 42-year-old man, both from Madison, were arrested and face charges of operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.

News 3 Now is not naming the men at this time as part of a policy not to name people accused of crimes until they have been formally charged in court. Click here to learn more about the policy . They are currently being held in the Dane County Jail.

The vehicle was returned to its rightful owner.
