University of New Mexico researchers help send tomatoes into space

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – University of New Mexico researchers have teamed up with the University of Wisconsin-Madison to send tomatoes into space. The tomatoes will take flight Monday on the International Space Station (ISS) as part of project Trichoderma Associated Space Tomato Inoculation Experiment, also known as TASTIE. Researchers are looking to understand how plants grow without gravity and if there are ways to help plants cope with the stressors involved with growing in space flight.
