MADISON, Wis. — Two people were forced to find a different place Thursday night to stay after a fire in the bathroom of their Madison apartment.
Crews were called to the 2800 block of Ashland Lane at around 9:15 p.m after the fire was reported. Firefighters found smoke in a bathroom and flames coming from around a ceiling light fixture.
The fixture and parts of the ceiling were removed then sprayed with water. Officials said smoldering insulation and hot spots were found in the attic, and those were also sprayed.
No injuries were reported. The apartment residents told crews they had smelled something burning earlier in the evening but couldn’t figure out where the smell was coming from. They called 911 after seeing flames from their bathroom ceiling.
