Sun Prairie Frozen Fest back amid recent warm up

In some school districts, it’s the end of the snow day

It’s been a rite of passage for decades, but the snow day may melt away for students in America’s public schools. Due to technology, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need for students to be consistently educated, the snow day may quietly become a thing of the past.

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. – Frozen Fest is underway but not without a hitch… that being warmer weather.

Back for its third year, the Sun Prairie Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department celebrate the season with a multitude of winter activities. However, the initial candle lit snowshoe hike has been canceled due to the warmer temps and rain.

“They’re all family friendly events. Besides tomorrow’s pancake breakfast, the rest of the events next week are free of charge and indoors,” says Holly Poho, Recreation Supervisor

Other snow themed activities were still a go such as dog sledding. The fest runs through February 2nd, with winter and snow themed events everyday.
