SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. – The City of Sun Prairie is thrilled to host the 76th Annual Groundhog Day Prognostication on Friday, February 2 at Cannery Square in downtown.
We’re about to find out whether there will be another six weeks of winter or an early spring with Jimmy the Groundhog’s prediction.
The ceremony kicks off at the early hour of 6:50 a.m., with the Prognostication set against the backdrop of the sunrise at 7:11 a.m.

For the 76th year, Sun Prairie is gathering to hear Jimmy the Groundhog’s prognostication.
“The Groundhog Prognostication is a cherished tradition in our community and witnessing the enthusiasm from the community at this event brings me immense joy,” said Mayor Esser.
The excitement doesn’t end when Jimmy leaves the event. Folks are encouraged to explore enticing Groundhog Day offerings from local shops in Downtown Sun Prairie.
