About ten years ago, I wrote about the demise of dairy farms along a seven-mile stretch Highway 138 that runs between the communities of Oregon and Stoughton in Dane County. I was raised on an 80-acre dairy farm located along that stretch of what was then called Highway 106. The column centered on the fact that the last cow was milked in that community in 1992.
