Jury finds woman guilty in shooting death of man at Middleton car dealership

MADISON, Wis. — A jury on Thursday found a woman guilty in the 2023 shooting death of a man at a Middleton car dealership.

Jakira Anderson, 23, was found guilty of first-degree intentional homicide by use of a dangerous weapon. The charge stemmed from a shooting in March 2023 that killed 34-year-old Kawsu Samba .

MADISON, Wis. — Court officials on Wednesday set a $1 million cash bond for a woman accused of shooting and killing an employee at a Middleton car dealership earlier this week.

Police said Anderson shot Samba after a dispute over a vehicle she had leased from the dealership in the 3000 block of Parmenter Street where Samba worked. According to a criminal complaint filed in the case, Anderson told police that Samba had pushed her prior to the shooting.

The case was turned over to the jury Thursday morning , and deliberations lasted roughly five hours before reaching a verdict. Anderson testified in her own defense Wednesday, a day before closing arguments.
