Live on King will not be held this summer

The free, live music series that fills the 100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard on a handful of Fridays every summer will not take place in 2024.

The reason was ” due to production logistics and sourcing ,” according to social posts and an email that went out from FPC Live, the company that owns Majestic and The Sylvee.

In the past, the concerts have featured local and national acts that drew thousands of first come, first served viewers — last year, the lineup included six concerts from June to September.

In the same announcement about Live on King being discontinued for 2024, FPC Live touted Live on Queen, a June 21 concert at The Sylvee (which was one of the six concerts featured in the Live on King lineup last year). The event, which will include a lineup of all-star local drag performers, plus musical acts and Banzo food for purchase, is part of Make Music Madison and is sponsored by Exact Sciences.

Live on King, which started in 2011, took a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, but returned in 2022.
