A company in Wisconsin just announced some unexpected layoffs

It’s been a rough patch for Wisconsin’s job market. Recently, Sun Nuclear Corporation made headlines when it announced it would be laying off 39 employees due to a facility closure in Middleton. This is slated for August 30, a date that will undoubtedly mark a significant change for many workers and their families.

Sun Nuclear, known for its work in cancer treatment technologies, expressed this move as a difficult but necessary step.But the story doesn’t end there. Across the state, several other businesses have been forced to make similar tough decisions. For instance, Concordia University is undergoing a restructuring that will unfortunately result in mass layoffs. Meanwhile, Mercury Marine is also scaling back, planning to let go of 300 workers by July due to a slump in consumer demand.

These layoffs are part of broader adjustments to align with the current economic climate.In Appleton, Bon Appetit Management had to lay off 62 staff members in June. Similarly, Strauss Brands is stopping production at its Franklin facility, affecting up to 70 jobs. Other notable layoffs include Ward Manufacturing, which will be closing a Milwaukee facility, displacing 62 employees, and Sodexo, which is cutting 50 jobs by the end of June in West Allis.Big names like Walmart and JELD-WEN Inc.
