Phone threat leads to lockdown at Meriter Hospital

MADISON, Wis. — UnityPoint Health-Meriter Hospital is currently on a lockdown.

In an email to employees, Director of Security, Brad Armstrong, said the hospital was “working with authorities regarding an external threat by an outside caller.”

The lockdown of the hospital is external, and only confirmed patients are being admitted inside, according to Armstrong.

Security and police have been stationed outside the buidling.

According to Armstrong in the email, Meriter is “confident that the hospital is safe, as the caller is not in the vicinity of the hospital.”

Hospital staff are being asked to continue to provide normal patient care

The Madison Police Department told News 3 Now that it is aware of the lockdown and would provide details at a later time.
