Incident in Madison leads to shots fired by police; one detained

MADISON, Wis. — One person was taken to the Dane County Jail, following an incident in Madison Friday.

According to the Madison Police Department, officers were called to a group in a parking lot in the 400 block of W Gilman St. just after 10:30 p.m. Friday.

After arriving, police said officers confronted a subject with a gun, after which shots were fired by Madison Police. No one was reported to have been struck by gunfire.

Police said multiple subjects were detained, and a gun was recovered.

One person was eventually transported to the Dane County Jail.

According to police, a person not involved with the group sustained minor injuries during this incident, likely from broken glass.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Department is leading the investigation.
