MADISON, Wis. — The Bartell Theatre in downtown Madison will host a film series beginning next month, with tickets to each film costing only $5 apiece.
The series will have four different types of screenings: A “Brew-n-View” showing geared at adults, a family-friendly matinee, classic films and independent premiers. All tickets will be general admission.
The Bartell has spent the last two years fundraising $40,000 to install a projector, screen and surround-sound system in order to show movies.
The series kicks off on Oct. 25 with a “Brew-n-View” showing of “The Big Lebowski” at 8 p.m.
Oct. 26 is a day for the Halloween fans among us. There will be a 2 p.m. family screening of “Hocus Pocus” followed by a 9 p.m. “Brew-n-View” screening of the same film.
Sandwiched between those two films will be a 6:30 p.m. screening of the uncut version of “Psycho.” This version of Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece, which was restored in 2022, includes footage not seen since the ’60s.
Saturday, Nov. 30 will be a holiday special. There will be a family-friendly showing of “Elf” at 2 p.m. followed by “It’s a Wonderful Life” at 6:30 p.m.
