MADISON, Wis. — The body of a woman who went missing in Madison last week was recovered from a pond on the city’s near west side, the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Tuesday.
Brooke Strattan, 24, of McFarland had last been seen on Sept. 30 in the area of Odana Road and Whitney Way with a male acquaintance. Madison police searched for her last week, eventually finding a body in a pond on the UW-Madison Arboretum property Thursday afternoon.
The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office on Tuesday confirmed that the body was Strattan. The cause and manner of her death remain pending, and additional testing is underway.
Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes said last week that the man last seen with Strattan was in custody at the Dane County Jail on an unrelated charge, and that he would be questioned in connection to Strattan’s disappearance.
Her death remains under investigation.
