Memorial Union Terrace chairs to be removed beginning Oct. 28

MADISON, Wis. — If the cooler weather didn’t queue you in that summer is ending, this surely will. The sunburst chairs at the Memorial Union Terrace will move back into storage beginning on Oct. 28.

Wisconsin Union announced the move on Monday. The removal date is subject to change based on factors including staffing. Crews will remove 2,000 chairs and 431 tables from the Terrace.

Even with the chairs removed, there’s still plenty to do at Memorial Union. Indoor dining options including der Rathskeller, Peet’s Coffee and Badger Market will remain open.

Additionally, Wisconsin Union announced that the Lakeview Lounge will stay open throughout the year for the first time since it opened in 2017.
