National Weather Service issues freeze warning for northeastern Wisconsin early Wednesday

The National Weather Service Green Bay has issued a freeze warning with temperature’s below 30 expected between 1 a.m. and 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Parts of northeastern Wisconsin will be under the advisory, including Brown, Outagamie County, Kewaunee, Winnebago, Calumet and Manitowoc counties.

Sub-freezing temperatures are expected to be in the upper 20s and lower 30s. Temperatures may stay just above 32 along the Lake Michigan shoreline.

NWS Green Bay told the Press-Gazette that this was the first freeze warning sent out for the fall in the area. The average first freeze in the fall for Green Bay is usually Oct. 6.

The frost and freeze conditions can kill sensitive vegetation and crops, the weather service. Outdoor, unprotected plumbing is also at risk of being damaged.

Temperature’s will be around freezing as people are heading out to school and work in the morning. Temperature’s will reach the 50 on Wednesday.
