Man who died after crashing into Yahara River identified

MCFARLAND, Wis. — The Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday identified a man who died after crashing his car into the Yahara River.

Christopher K. Mosby, 47, of Fitchburg died early Monday after his car went into the water near West Broadway and Pirate Island. A Monona police officer discovered the vehicle upside down in the water at around 1 a.m.

According to the Medical Examiner’s Office, preliminary results of an examination show Mosby died as a result of drowning. Additional testing is underway.

Mosby’s death remains under investigation.
