Runners to take over Madison streets in annual marathon event

MADISON, Wis. — A fun post-election event is happening this Sunday in downtown Madison.

The annual Madison Marathon is taking place on Sunday at 7:00 a.m. runners will move through the UW-Arboretum, Vilas Park around Madison, around Lake Monona, and back to the Capitol with the last runners finishing around 1:30 p.m.

Police officers will be located throughout the course, assisting traffic.

Drivers are asked to plan ahead if traveling near the race route as crossing the route will only be allowed when there are sufficient gaps in the runners.

Start times are as follows:

  • Full marathon and Half marathon participants will begin at 7:00 a.m.
  • 10K participants will begin at 7:15 a.m.
