Madison man arrested for OWI after crashing into sign, running into Verona park

VERONA, Wis. — Verona police arrested a man Wednesday who they said crashed his vehicle and ran from the scene.

The crash was reported in the area of East Verona Ave. and Maple Grove Drive. An investigation found that a vehicle traveling east on East Verona Ave. crossed the media and westbound lanes before hitting a sign.

Police said the driver, a 21-year-old Madison man, ran from the scene into nearby Badger Prairie County Park. Police used an aerial drone to find him and take him into custody.

He faces charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and was cited for failure to maintain control. He was taken to a hospital for minor injuries.
