Get the buck out: Police called after deer enters Madison Hy-Vee

MADISON, Wis. — Madison police dealt with a different kind of trespasser Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to the Hy-Vee in the 3800 block of East Washington Ave. just before 10:30 a.m. after a 10-point buck entered the store through an open door in the pharmacy area.

Staff were able to corral the animal in a cooler area, and officers and animal control employees barricaded parts of the store to guide the buck back outside.

Police said the “suspect” was free and back in the wild as of Friday afternoon.
