MADISON, Wis. — Jason Boschan has run a marathon in all seven continents and is now running 50 half marathons in all 50 states.
Madison’s half marathon is number 38. Boschan documents every state visit on his blog.
“There’s just something special about race day that cannot be replicated,” said Boschan.
Boschan is running to raise money for dementia research after his grandfather’s battle with a rare form of dementia. His partnership with Northwestern Medicine has raised over $350,000, with a goal of $400,000.
“100% of every dollar that’s donated goes to fund research,” said Boschan. “No one’s paying for me to be here. I’m here because I want to help spread the word. The second we’re able to not only slow the progression, but find a cure, I’ll toss my shoes aside and I’ll focus my attention on something else. But until then, I’ll keep showing up into great cities like this one to hopefully make an impact.”
