Report finds insufficient evidence that Madison alder violated harassment policy, reveals ‘troubling pattern’

MADISON, Wis. — An investigation into Madison Alder Charles Myadze did not find sufficient evidence to prove that he violated the city’s harassment and discrimination policies but did reveal “a troubling pattern of behavior,” Common Council President Yannette Figueroa Cole said Wednesday.

Myadze was under investigation following allegations from several women of domestic violence and sexual assault publicized earlier this year. Multiple had alders called for his resignation.

In a statement Wednesday, Figueroa Cole said the investigation uncovered “an unwelcome pattern of bullying, repeated aggressive behaviors, and creating an unacceptable power imbalance.”

This was the first investigation completed under the Common Council’s updated Code of Conduct, which was adopted in July.
