PLANNING THE NEXT 24 HOU R S: A few sprinkles are possible for southern Wisconsin today, but beyond that, we’re going to be quiet through Monday morning. Clouds will be persistent today for Madison and surrounding areas, but some sunshine is possible for northern and western counties. Highs will be in the middle to lower 50s for just about everyone today as well. We’ll briefly see clear skies tonight (lows in the 30s), before clouds move back into the area Monday.

EXTENDED FORECAST: Rain will move into our area Monday afternoon and continue through Tuesday morning. Rain will likely be heavy at times, with some isolated storms possible as well (severe weather is VERY unlikely). Total rainfall Monday night is expected to be around 1 to 2 inches. We’ll also be very windy with gusts up to 40 mph at times. Rain will move out Tuesday afternoon, with dry conditions continuing Tuesday night. However, temperatures will cool down Tuesday night into Wednesday, leading to the possibility of snowfall later in the day Wednesday. Accumulation is very unlikely, but this could be the first snowfall for a lot of southern Wisconsin. Even if it doesn’t snow, temperatures will be much cooler with highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Those temperatures will continue into next weekend and early next week.
