Unattended cooking fire on Mifflin Street sends person to hospital

MADISON, Wis. — A person sleeping in their apartment on Mifflin Street was sent to the hospital after their unattended cooking caught on fire.

Madison Fire Department crews responded to the 1200 block of East Mifflin Street on Sunday just before 2:40 p.m. for a report stating there was smoke coming from under a door.

After their knocks on the door went unanswered, firefighters forced their way into an apartment and found a scorched pot of food located on the stove top. No further damage occurred during the incident.

One person was found sleeping in the apartment. They were taken to a hospital.
