Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver’s Chevrolet Corvette rolled over multiple times and struck a tree. Citizens at the scene found the man unresponsive and attempted CPR, but he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses told authorities the Corvette was traveling east and attempted to pass another vehicle when it accelerated rapidly and lost control, leaving the roadway. Excessive speed and failure to maintain control are cited as contributing factors.
The driver’s name has not been released.
