Anti-fluoride activists target Wisconsin cities

The city of Amery is one of nine Wisconsin municipalities that removed fluoride from its drinking water in 2024. Madison began fluoridating its drinking water in 1948, an action that the Centers for Disease Control says reduces tooth decay in children and adults by about 25%. The decision by the city council was part of a strategy meant to reduce cavities, particularly among children with little access to dental care.
