FITCHBURG, Wis. (WFRV) – A 50-year-old man was arrested Sunday afternoon after crashing into a mailbox and registering a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) over four times the legal limit.
According to the Fitchburg Police Department , a caller reported hearing a truck colliding with trash cans and seeing it strike mailboxes shortly before 3:45 p.m.

The caller followed the vehicle to the parking lot of Liquor Town, where officers and paramedics responded to check on the driver.

Police determined the man had been drinking, and a preliminary breath test showed a BAC of .34, well above the legal limit of .08. He was cited for first-offense operating while intoxicated and hit-and-run causing property damage.
