Stove top fire results in minor injuries

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — Sun Prairie Fire and EMS responded to a fire Wednesday night at Sweet Grass Drive.

The fire occurred on a stove top when a box of food was being placed on the burner when turned on.

The occupants started to smell smoke once they were in another part of the residence. The smoke alarms activated shortly after.

One of the residents proceeded to move the box of burning food outside the residence, thus resulting in minor burn injures to their fingers.

The adjacent kitchen cabinets are burnt as well as the kitchen hood above the stove, according to the fire department.

The home did have working smoke alarms that allowed the occupants to evacuate the home at a reasonable time.
