A family of muskrats recently moved into the field where the dirt hole known as 5117 Central Park Pl is. It’s hard to imagine they’re still there, or even still alive after the earth has been razed to make place for what will probably be more apartments.
What used to be a home for red-winged blackbirds, monarch butterflies, and barn swallows is apparently better served as more high density housing. Fitchburg outwardly takes pride in its “agricultural heritage,” and frequently touts its parks, trails, green space, and “22,000 acres of rolling hills.” In practice, it’s overly eager to put up cheap “luxury” apartments anywhere it can.
But don’t worry, if you don’t want to live in a money funnel to property developers, the “American Dream” of home ownership is still alive in Fitchburg in the form of yardless, boring, expensive houses placed 3 feet from each other. The difference between the American Dream here and Soviet housing blocks is a vinyl facade…
