Rock star: A corundum conundrum

Stoughton is known for being a destination for people seeking a new home, whether it was the Ho-Chunk Nation who first made their home in the area, or later settlers from Europe.

But what about a destination for … rocks?

Thanks to ancient glaciers, this area is the home to many such travelers that were carried along these massive ice mounds that moved south and eventually stopped in these parts; some from as far as Canada.Christine McCredie, rock hunter and owner of ARDU Crystal and Sage in Stoughton, found a rare specimen of corundum unearthed from glacial till exposed during the recent Mandt Park construction project…
