MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – Communities across the Madison-area will be holding observances and events in honor of Memorial Day. Here is a list of some happening on Monday.
Beloit Memorial Day Parade
The United Veterans Memorial Day Parade will go through Downtown Beloit and South Beloit, honoring veterans and fallen heroes who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The parade will start at 9 a.m. on Blackhawk Boulevard near Oakland and will wrap up just before College Street and Horace White Park in Beloit.
DeForest Memorial Day Ceremony
The Village of DeForest will host the annual Memorial Day Ceremony from 11:45 a.m.-1p.m. in Veterans Memorial Park on North Main Street.
This year, the guest speaker will be Christopher McElgunn, the deputy secretary at Wisconsin Dept. of Veterans Affairs.
Dan Jardine, who organizers the ceremony, visited WMTV on Friday and said it’s a “short, solemn meaningful ceremony.”
