In the spirit of the Premier Ultimate League’s mission to achieve equity in the sport of ultimate, we would like to recognize the current state of equity in the broader national and global context for Championship Weekend.
To achieve equity in the sport of ultimate by increasing accessibility to the sport for and visibility of women, transgender, intersex, non-binary, genderqueer, and genderfluid people through high-quality competition, leadership experiences, and community partnerships. Our league strives for gender, racial, and economic diversity in the sport of ultimate.
As we have the privilege of hosting four teams and fans in Madison, we want to acknowledge that the rights and freedoms of many Americans continue to come under threat. There are challenges to the lives and self-determination of trans people. There have been limitations on the bodily autonomy of pregnant people and people who could become pregnant. Immigrant communities have been imperiled by deportations, raids, and violence. The ongoing international humanitarian crises in Gaza, Congo, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo speak to the need for peace, human rights, and liberation.
